Abstract The Forest and Nature Conservation Research and Development Center (FNCRDC) is one of the centers under the Forest Research and Development Agency (FORDA). The mission of FORDA is 'to find and to provide science and technology to support sustainable, diversified uses of forests for the benefit of people,' In view of the diversity and the extent of forestry research and development activities, many activities that were formally based on Bogor are now centers in Bogor. Within FORDA, research on agroforestry is carried out by most of the member institutes. Research is concentrated on the trees and agroforestry systems found in the regions served by each institute. The Institute of Forest Tree Improvement in Purwobinangun, Yogyakarta, and the Institute of Seed Technology in Bogor have specific roles in agroforestry tree domestication.
