Abstract The Hansen Container Company Site (also known as the Layton Brothers Drum Company and the Rocky Mountain Drum Company) was an 11-acre drum recycling facility on the southern edge of the Grand Junction city limits, Mesa County, Colorado. In March 1991, two Grand Junction residents petitioned the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) to prepare a petitioned public health assessment (PPHA) for the Riverside community (CCRA, 1991). In September 1996, the PPHA was released for public comment. ATSDR reviewed and evaluated the data collected to ensure that the removal was completed and that no contaminants remained on the site at levels of public health concern. This document represents the final release of the PPHA and evaluates the latest data gathered after the completion of the removal actions at the site. Currently, ATSDR classifies the site as a no public health hazard because the removal actions eliminated the contaminants of concern previously detected on the site. No further actions are recommended for this site.
