Abstract	The program at the University of Puerto Rico in occupational health was geared toward the training of industrial hygienists for the growing need of such professionals on the Island. A 2 year curriculum was required which contains material with an industrial hygiene core supplemented by public health and environmental health courses. During this reporting period, four students with traineeship support completed the requirements for degrees and seven others worked toward completing the thesis requirement. Program objectives such as the approval of the new industrial hygiene programs funds to recruit a full time faculty member were also achieved during this period. A grant was provided by the University of Puerto Rico to purchase laboratory equipment. NIOSH training grant support for student traineeships, laboratory equipment, literature resources and faculty travel has had a significant impact on the quality of training the program has offered.
