Abstract	This report, which responds to section 2 of the Mining and Minerals Policy Act of 1970, reviews the performance of selected domestic minerals sectors during 1989 and 1990 and presents their short-term outlook. The performance of the plastics and advanced materials industries is also presented because of the increasing importance of these sectors as competitors with traditional minerals.
