Abstract The report is a discussion of four types of support systems developed by the U.S. Bureau of Mines for use in both room-and-pillar retreat and longwall mining systems. These are: Mobile Roof Support System; Steel-Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Cribbing; Yielding Steel Posts; and Lightweight Hydraulic Supports.
