Abstract |
The Occupational Medicine training program at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center was described, and the accomplishments of the program were summarized. The program started in 1985 as part of the Harvard School of Public Health Educational Resource Center. A freestanding, 2 year residency program was developed. The program provided direct faculty and administrative support. The Department had three major divisions including the Occupational Health Sciences, and the Division of Preventive Medicine. Joint appointments, teaching responsibilities, and collaborative research projects have created close links between the Occupational Health Program and faculty in other departments and institutions. Client company consultation provides clinical training sites and research opportunities. |
