Personal Author Franks, J. R.; Themann, C. L.; Sherris, C.

Abstract This is the third compendium of hearing protection devices developed at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). It serves as an update to the prior compendia, but greatly expands the information available for each device. The average attenuations and standard deviations are again included along with listings of features of each device. These features are divided into categories such as style, composition materials, and compatibility with other safety equipment and with various work environments. In addition to the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), other rating values are reported as calculated in accordance with ISO 4869-2 (1992).
