PB95237004

Publication Date 1994
Page Count 228
Abstract This Special Publication summarizes a number of in-depth studies of the major gold mining regions of the world. Gold resources and reserves and production costs are estimated and compared for the major producers and developing regions and countries. All data and analysis results are presented in U.S. dollars to facilitate the comparisons. Dramatic changes in resource development and mining and processing technologies that have occurred in the gold industry since the early 1980's are documented. Future growth areas such as the former Soviet Union, the Asia-Pacific region, and Latin America are reviewed. Finally, this publication identifies factors that may influence the future of worldwide gold supply and any impacts on the economy of the United States.
