National Technical Reports Library

The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers online, free and open access to these authenticated government technical reports. Technical reports and documents in its repository may be available online for free either from the issuing federal agency, the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s Federal Digital System website, or through search engines.

Abstract Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopic studies have been utilized to investigate complex forming ability of chiral antibiotics, tetracycline, cycloserine and ampicilline with transition metal ions such as Co(2+), Ni(2+), VO(2+), and Cu(2+) in aqueous solution. The ligands and metal ions (due to their symmetric nature) have no CD bands in visible region. When metal ions and ligands solutions were mixed, complexation was indicated with the development of well defined, fairly strong CD bands in the crystal field spectral region. The conditions of pH and stoichometry were determined for maximum complexation in solution.
