NIOSH Comments to DOL on Hazard Communication by J. D. Millar, August 9, 1982.

PB91152637

Publication Date 1982
Page Count 6
Abstract In the testimony NIOSH notes several documents which should be consulted in evaluating hazards. Among these are the National Toxicology Program Annual Report on Carcinogens; NIOSH Criteria Documents, Current Intelligence Bulletins, and other documents presenting Institute recommendations; OSHA regulations; and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists Threshold Limit Values and their documentation. A listing of recognized sources of toxicity information could be used as part of the minimum inquiry required of employers and producers for the development of hazard communications. Each of these documents is described in the testimony. NIOSH also submitted documentation concerning the number of products encountered in the facilities surveyed in Standard Industrial Classification codes 20 through 39 which represent a measure of potential exposure to chemicals in the workplace.
