Abstract |
A bibliography of recent work (primarily from January 1976 through May 1978) concerning the study, design, and implementation of programs to reduce the hazards of grain dust explosions is presented. The compilation is a project of the Energy and Mineral Resources Research Institute at Iowa State University under contract to the NIOSH Division of Safety Research. A major concern of the Division of Safety Research is the causes of occupationally related accidents and injuries. Some of the topics treated in the cited literature are: occurrences, causes, and prevention of explosions; dust collection techniques; safety training and education; insurance standards, national codes, and government regulations; grain handling operations; management principles; economic aspects; chemical and physical properties of dusts; flame propagation mechanisms; fire and explosion detection; and explosion suppression and control. |
