Abstract |
Effects of background sounds on human behavior are studied, with techniques specially designed to create a true work assembly-line situation within the laboratory. Background sounds used were taped music, radio programs, and intermittent white noise. Fewest errors in assembly line inspection operations occurred with taped music, followed increasingly by radio, intermittent noise, and no-noise conditions. |
