Abstract |
The list fulfills the requirements of Section, 20(a)(6) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, Public Law 91-596, which requires that 'the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare shall publish within six months of enactment of this Act and thereafter as needed, but at least annually, a list of all known toxic substances by generic family or other useful grouping, and the concentrations at which such toxicity is known to occur'. The 'List' format consists of three sections, the chemical name of the toxic substance in capital letters, arranged alphabetically, its toxic dose and effects for man and/or mammal, and the literature references. Because of the severe time restrictions imposed by the Act, the first issue of the List is incomplete. |
