| Abstract |
Microcomputer programs were developed to calculate life cycle costs for pavements and bridges. These programs compute highway agency costs, user costs, and non-user costs for specific maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Agency costs depend on maintenance service levels and rehabilitation timing. User consequence are influenced by surface roughness and the frequency and duration of road occupancy. All costs are discounted to present worth and annualized over the life cycle period analyzed. Results are presented in guidelines tables showing the relative increase or decrease in consequences for different maintenance strategies. |
