Abstract |
The report describes the measurement and identification of the gases produced by explosives detonated under actual mining operations in an underground mine. A brief background about the nature of the problem and the objectives of the investigation are presented, as well as a brief summary of previous studies regarding gases produced in trace quantities and entrapped in the muck pile and surrounding mine rock. Also included are discussions of selected explosives, detailed descriptions of the test chamber, the mining procedures used to generate the gases, a description of the analytical instruments and procedures used to monitor and identify the gases, and a presentation of the experimental results, conclusions, and recommendations. |
