Abstract	Since 1948 the Framingham Heart Study has followed a sample of adults who in 1948 were residents of the town of Framingham, Massachusetts for development of cardiovascular disease. A standardized clinic examination was repeated at 2-year intervals. By this means a wide variety of information has been collected which includes the characteristics of people in the study cohort both before and after the development of cardiovascular disease, as well as a standardized clinical evaluation of changes in their cardiovascular status. The major concern of the study has been the evaluation of the relationship of potential risk factors determined in healthy individuals to the subsequent development of disease. The present report is an update for 30 years of followup. Like earlier monographs in the series, the section is exclusively a display of data which provides detailed information for those who wish to interpret and use them for program planning, teaching, and for comparison with their own data.
