| Abstract |
Bisphenol A (BPA; 98% pure) was evaluated in a new reproductive toxicology testing scheme which has been designated 'Fertility Assessment by Continuous Breeding'. In the present study, Task 1 (dose-range finding) was performed to aid in the selection of dose levels for Task 2 (continuous breeding). Eight male and eight female CD-1 mice (8 weeks of age) per dose group were given 0.0, 0.31, 0.62, 1.25, 2.5 and 5.0% BPA in their feed (NIH-07) for 14 days. Analysis of the Task 1 feed formulations indicated that they ranged from 93 to 102% of the desired BPA concentrations. No clinical signs of toxicity were observed in either male or female mice in the 0.0, 0.31, 0.62, or 1.25% BPA dose groups. |
