National Technical Reports Library

The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers online, free and open access to these authenticated government technical reports. Technical reports and documents in its repository may be available online for free either from the issuing federal agency, the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s Federal Digital System website, or through search engines.

Publication Date 1983
Personal Author Kumar, A.; Wight, J. K.
Page Count 66
Abstract This report characterizes Element EL7, a general purpose element for reinforced concrete shearwalls under cyclic loading. The development of the element for use in the DRAIN-2D computer program for calculating the nonlinear response of multistory structures subject to earthquake motion is described, and the FORTRAN listing of the subroutines is included. Input data and sample computer output for a seven-story reinforced concrete frame-wall structure are presented to illustrate the data preparation procedure and output format for the shearwall element. The tangent stiffness matrix of the shearwall element is provided.
