Abstract Breathing zone samples were analyzed for nitroglycerin (55630) (NG) and ethylene-glycol-dinitrate (628966) (EGDN) at the Radford Army Ammunition Factory (SIC-3483), Radford, Virginia in September 1981. Area samples were analyzed for acetone (67641), diethyl-ether (60297), ethanol (64175), and n-butyl-acetate (123864). NG concentrations in the personal samples ranged from 0.001 to 0.028 parts per million (ppm). Recommendations include conducting 8 hour monitoring of personal NG concentrations and using personal protective equipment in the rolled powder propellant rolling operation where NG concentrations exceed the NIOSH standard.
