The reproductive effects of sodium-selenite (10102188) (SS), ethylene-thiourea (96457) (ETU), diethylene-glycol-monomethyl-ether (111773) (DEME), ethylene-glycol-monomethyl-ether (109864) (EME), ethylene-glycol-monoethyl-ether (110805) (EMEE), ethylene-glycol-monobutyl-ether (111762) (EBE), toluene (108883), 2,4-dinitrotoluene (121142) (2,4DM), and 2,4-diaminotoluene (95807) (2,4DA) were examined in mice. Female CD1-mice were given 10 milliliters per kilogram oral doses of each compound dissolved in an appropriate solvent at various concentrations to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD). Pregnant mice were administered the compounds orally for 8 days, the concentrations of each compound being based on the MTDs. Animals were observed for clinical symptoms and any dead mice were necropsied. Litter size, number of live pups, and litter weights were tabulated and statistically analyzed. |
