| Abstract |
A new solid solution strengthened Ni-base heat resistant alloy, named TOMILLOY, has been developed for gas turbine combustors. The development of this alloy was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, ten kinds of alloys containing 22% Cr-12% Co-9% Mo-0.3% Al-0.8% Ti-0.005% B-Ni base as the basic composition but varied in the percentages of Co, W, Mo and Cr, were manufactured in the form of plates. The alloy plates were examined with respect to formability, high temperature strength, weldability and oxidation resistance and as the result 22% Cr-8% Co-9% Mo-3% W-0.3% Al-0.8% Ti-0.005% B-Ni base alloy was found to be the most suitable material. In the second stage, two tons of ingot having this chemical composition were melted and hot rolled to 4.8 mm-thick plates. Then, transition pieces were made using the plate and the properties of its base metal and welded joints were examined. The results showed that the alloy has good weldability and its strength is higher than that of Hastelloy X which has been widely used for long years. |
