Abstract The objective of this work is to improve the safety potential associated with off-highway haulage truck operations. The report describes the development and evaluation of seven novel cab location concepts for large off-highway haulage trucks. A preliminary design of a completely novel truck configuration is also described. An analysis of 1978-79 haulage truck accidents as well as the fundamental parameters of haulage truck design, operation, and selection are presented.
