Abstract	On July 8, 1980, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) received a request for a Health Hazard Evaluation from employees at American Standard, Incorporated, Louisville, Kentucky. The requestors were concerned about the enameling department where employees coat bathtubs and sinks with enameling powder, then bake the enamel in furnaces. Symptoms included nausea, vomiting, chills, and difficulties in eating. Recommendations for control and monitoring of excessive lead levels and for amelioration of symptoms due to heat stress are contained in the body of the full report.
