Abstract |
The engineering and measurements testing of a past study of vibration white finger (VWF) disease in workers using pneumatic chipping and grinding hand tools is summarized. The historical background of VWF is reviewed. Acceleration, vibration energy, and dynamic compliance measurements made on 67 workers who operated chipper and grinding tools are described, and results are summarized. Worksites, workpractices, and tools used on the job are described. Plots of hand arm system dynamic compliance and phase data, chipping hammer and grinder acclimation data, instantaneous energy data, and work per unit time data are summarized, along with calculator program listings and chronologies, and acceleration time histories. |
