Abstract Worker exposure to nickel (7440020) were determined at the Harshaw Chemical Company (SIC-3339) in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 12, and 13, 1976. The company employed about 250 workers and maintained a part time doctor, a full nurse of staff, as well as industrial hygiene personnel. Of the 29 air samples collected, only one exceeded the current OSHA nickel standard of 1.0 milligram per cubic meter. The author recommends improved ventilation, and use more production enclosures to further reduce nickel exposures.
