Abstract Instructor manual for a one week 'Industrial Hygiene Chemistry' course, designed to give program graduates expertise in environmental sampling and analysis. Lesson 5 covers the operation and calibration of a fluoride ion selective electrode system for the purpose of quantitating the amount of fluoride collected in midget impingers. Sections are devoted to demonstration of a sampling train for fluoride and hydrogen fluoride in the air, synthesis of aqueous fluoride standards, preparation of reference samples for analysis, measurement of standards and samples, time response of the fluoride electrode, and statistical treatment and interpretation of data.
