Abstract This manual is a combined tutorial and reference manual for the JOVIAL (J73) language. The main body of the manual describes the entire language, giving motivation and examples for each feature. A programmer can read the manual to learn the language and then use Appendix A for reference purpose. The manual is intended for a reader who has had previous experience with assembly language or some higher order language. The presentation is informal and nonmathematical.
