Abstract	Worker exposures to silica (7631869) were surveyed on August 4 to 8, 1975, at Triangle Brick Company (SIC-3255) in Durham, North Carolina. Personal respirable samples were collected for 12 workers. Dust concentrations ranged from 0.0 to 1.78 milligrams per cubic meter, and contained 0.0 to 0.162 milligrams per cubic meter of silicon dioxide. Three samples exceeded the threshold limit value (unspecified). The authors conclude that a nuisance dust hazard exists at this facility. Recommendations include improvement of the material transport system, enclosure of transfer points, separation of dusty and nondusty operations, and installation of exhaust ventilation in the work area.
