Worker exposures to fluorocarbons were surveyed on August 27, 1976, and May 24 and 25, and August 30 and 31, 1977 at E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Incorporated (SIC-2869) in Deepwater, New Jersey. About 120 workers were employed in the fluorocarbon production, blending and packaging areas. Air samples were analyzed for FC11 (75694), FC12 (7518), FC22 (75456), FC113 (76131), FC115 (76153) and FC1301 (75638). Threshold limit values for FC11, FC12, FC11 and FC13 were 1000 parts per million; no standards were given for FC115 or FC1301. All fluorocarbon concentrations were below permissible limits. The authors recommend that current company policies of process enclosure, use of dilution ventilation, safe work practices, and leakage control be maintained. |
