Publication Date 1980
Personal Author Cox, C.

Abstract An industrial hygiene survey was conducted from November 14 to 17, 1978 to study mechanical cotton picker operators exposed to s,s,s-tributylphosphorotrithioate (78488) (DEF) at the Valley Picking Company (SIC-0722) in Tulare, California. The respiratory sample for DEF ranged from 17.0 to 257.0 nanograms per cubic meter (ng/cu m) and the dermal samples ranged from 0.29 to 2.66 milligrams per 8 hours. The unoxidized form of DEF, folex (150505), was also detected. The folex respiratory samples ranged from 11.4 to 76.7ng/cu m and the dermal samples ranged from 0.02 to 0.09 milligrams per 8 hours. The investigators conclude that during normal weather conditions exposure concentrations could be elevated by one or two orders of magnitude and they recommend that additional respiratory and dermal sampling be conducted during these weather conditions.
