Abstract	Based on the information collected during these evaluations, NIOSH found no health hazard existed to inspectors under the current methods of operation and during periods of peak traffic density. Although carbon monoxide exposures were not in excess of recommended levels, an increase in COHb levels occurred during the shifts. Even though these increases were not excessive, the practice of rotating inspectors should be continued so as not to unduly expose these individuals.
