Abstract |
A walk-through survey was conducted by NIOSH at the American Enka Company, Lowland, Tennessee, on June 1-2, 1977, to evaluate the plant for possible inclusion in a cross-sectional medical and reproductive study of the effects of exposure to carbon disulfide. Products currently produced at this site are rayon staple, nylon staple, polyester staple, nylon filament, polyester filament, and sodium sulfate. Descriptions are given of: the workforce; personnel record system; safety, industrial hygiene and medical programs; and processes. The plant appears to have an excellent worker population for the carbon disulfide study. |
