Abstract Guidelines are given for health and safety in the automotive parts recycling industry, including: safety programs, employee training, machine guarding, housekeeping, power tools, product inventory, environmental control, yard wreckers, and hydraulic vehicle lifts. Frequently violated regulations are discussed, and recordkeeping requirements checklists, information sources, NIOSH and OSHA regional offices, a fire extinguisher chart and a 'how to lift safely' chart are included.
