National Technical Reports Library

The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers online, free and open access to these authenticated government technical reports. Technical reports and documents in its repository may be available online for free either from the issuing federal agency, the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s Federal Digital System website, or through search engines.

Abstract This report is a transcription of a Round Table organized for the purpose of bringing together a group of scientists, experienced in the field of thermal analysis, with certain NIOSH personnel to survey the state of the art and explore possible applications of thermal techniques to the field of occupational safety and health. The invited participants were selected on the basis of known activity in thermal analysis applied to problems related to occupational health or pollution, expertise in techniques which appeared to be applicable to these problems, or knowledge in disciplines or technology which provided potentially useful input to the discussion. Particular emphasis is directed to measuring airborne quartz and asbestos.
