Abstract	The work documents the productivity and safety aspects of the existing equipment and systems utilized in tranporting personnel and supplies from the surface to the underground production work place. This report documents the productivity and safety of existing men and material movement systems for six representative underground metal and nonmetal mines. Identification of common problem areas was defined using recognized industrial engineering techniques.
