Abstract |
A cooperative research program concerned with the fundamentals of motor gasoline storage stability was undertaken to increase and accumulate fundamental information relating to fuel stability. A rapid and precise method was developed for predicting motor gasoline storage stability through a comprehensive program of investigation of fuel composition, component reactivity, lead alkyl reactions and application of these data to the ultimate design of the prediction test. This new method allows the estimation of useful life, with considerable accuracy, of gasolines stored for long periods under adverse conditions. A significant bibliography of related literature is included. (Author) |
