Abstract |
The report summarizes a systematic 20-year study of the organic sulfur compounds in Wasson, Texas, crude oil and, to a lesser extent, of three other crude oils. It has culminated some 200 individual sulfur-compound identification techniques generally suitable for the characterization of sulfur compounds in any crude oil. The report cites early sulfur literature covering sulfur compound identifications completed before this study began and cites some 58 papers resulting from this work. The sulfur compounds in petroleum, both as to type and quantity, have long been of concern to the petroleum industry, and such compositional data are not only of theoretical interest, but also of practical value. The report contains a bibliography of 472 references. (Author) |
