Abstract A high-Btu gas was made to demonstrate the feasibility of using the gas as a nonpolluting fuel for automobiles. The pilot plants were revised to combine the processes of coal gasification, gas purification, and catalytic methanation in one overall system. Tests showed the Synthane gas was less polluting than natural gas. (Author)
