Abstract Nosocomial pneumonia is the most common pulmonary complication in trauma patients and is the leading cause of death from nosocomial infections. The purpose of this research was to (1) identify variables that increase the risk, (2) develop a predictive model, (3) identify predictors of early onset, and (4) identify predictors of late onset, for nosocomial pneumonia. The pneumonia theoretical framework by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guided the selection of indicators.
