Abstract The Long Island Regional Planning Board (LIRPB) initiated a three phase program in 1978 to develop options for the protection of all Long Island south shore bay environments from oil spills originating either from Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil production activities or the tanker transport of petroleum products in the New York Bight. This report covers the oil spill response actions in Moriches Inlet.
