Abstract |
Access to health care among adult beneficiaries in one geographic region of TRICARE, the military's managed care system, was described in this study. The following research questions guided this project: (1) How do military beneficiaries (consumers) evaluate access to care; (2) How do military health care beneficiaries evaluate access to care based upon their beneficiary category (Active Duty (AD), AD family members, retirees and family members less than 65 years, and retirees and family members greater than 65 years); (3) How do military beneficiaries in each of four TRICARE options (AD, Prime Military Treatment Facility (MTF), Prime Managed Care Support Contractor (MCSC), and Non-Prime) evaluate access to care; and (4) Do beneficiary evaluations of access to care differ according to consumer group, with consumer group reflecting a combination of beneficiary category and TRICARE option. This was a descriptive study using survey data. |
