Rhythms of War: Activation Experiences During the Persian Gulf War.

PB2007107628

Publication Date 1994
Personal Author Nelson, B. J.
Page Count 65
Abstract Military members in all branches of the service require family support; however, in wartime, activation and mobilization of National Guard and Reserve forces are believed to increase families needs for support. The stress associated with activation may stem from the threat of bodily harm or the changes associated with new employers, socioeconomic status, and family situations. The purpose of this ethnographic study was to describe and analyze patterns and experiences of activation and mobilization from the perspective of military members, their families, family support personnel, and commanders of the National Guard and Reserve forces during the Persian Gulf War.
