Abstract |
The Industrywide Studies Branch of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conducted a field study at a helicopter tranmission manufacturing plant in Texas on February 9-10, 2004. At this facilty, n-propyl bromide (nPB) was used as a vapor degreasing solvent to remove oils and dirt from transmission pars prior to the plating operation necessary to affix a protective surface treatment. In ths research study, we measured workers' breathing zone concentrations to n-propyl bromide (nPB) and isopropyl bromide (iPB) with standard air sampling methods in conjunction with new methods for measuring exhaled breath and urinary metabolites. |
