Abstract	This U.S. industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing upholstered household-type furniture. The furniture may be made on a stock or custom basis. The data published with NAICS code 337121 include the following SIC industries: 2512 Upholstered household furniture; 2515 Mattresses and bedsprings (pt); and 5712 Furniture stores (pt). This definition comes from the 1997 NAICS Manual. However, for this industry, the 1997 Economic Census Manufacturing did not fully implement the conversion to NAICS. Data for NAICS industry 337121 do not include establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing upholstered metal household furniture. The NAICS definitions will be fully implemented with the 2002 Economic Census. The report includes such statistics as number of establishments, employment, payroll, value added by manufacture, cost of materials consumed, value of shipments, capital expenditures, etc. The industry reports also include data for states with 100 employees or more in the industry.
