Abstract This report was prepared by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in collaboration with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). DOE's Office of Fossil Energy supports technology research and policy options to ensure clean, reliable, and affordable supplies of oil and natural gas for American consumers, working closely with the National Energy Technology Laboratory, which is the Department's lead center for the research and development of advanced fossil energy technologies. NARUC, a nonprofit organization composed of governmental agencies engaged in the regulation of telecommunications, energy, and water utilities and carriers in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, serves the public interest by improving the quality and effectiveness of utility regulation. The report contains growing Demand for Natural Gas; Emergence of the Global LNG Market; Current Status of U.S. LNG Imports; Components of the LNG Value Chain; and Informed Decision Making.
