Abstract |
The overall aims of the project were to develop and implement a method of surveillance of pesticide illness due to cholinesterase-inhibiting pesticides through direct laboratory reporting of cholinesterase test results by: Recruiting one laboratory to voluntarily report to CDHS the results of cholinesterase tests performed at its facilities. Ascertaining occupational illness cases through follow-up of physicians and patients identified by these reports. Comparing the proportion and characteristics of pesticide illness cases identified through the laboratory-based reporting system with the CDHS physician-based surveillance system. Evaluating direct laboratory reporting for use as a surveillance method for the detection of pesticide illnesses. |
