The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers online, free and open access to these authenticated government technical reports. Technical reports and documents in its repository may be available online for free either from the issuing federal agency, the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s Federal Digital System website, or through search engines.

Abstract	This report provides selected results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) for Hawaii's public-school students at grades 4 and 8. Since 1992, reading has been assessed in four different years at the state level (at grade 4 in 1992 and 1994, and at both grades 4 and 8 in 1998 and 2002). Hawaii participated in all of these assessments at grades 4 and 8 and met the criteria for reporting public-school results for both grades. The Nation's Report Card: Reading 2002 provides additional results from the assessment. NAEP is a project of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
