Abstract The purpose of the Project was four-fold: first, to develop and implement a model lead poisoning prevention strategy and evaluate it for its effectiveness with small to medium-sized painting contractors involved in residential and commercial painting activities; second, to develop a step-by-step employer compliance assistance manual; third to generate information on the resources required, problems encountered, and the feasibility and efficacy of the model, and to make recommendations for revisions; fourth, to assess the risk for lead poisoning among a painting workforce engaged in activities that disturb lead-based paint.
