Toxicological Profile for Arsenic (Update), 2000.

PB2000108021

Publication Date 2000
Page Count 472
Abstract Toxicological Profiles are a unique compilation of toxicological information on a given hazardous substance. Each profile reflects a comprehensive and extensive evaluation, summary, and interpretation of available toxicologic and epidemiologic information on a substance. Health care providers treating patients potentially exposed to hazardous substances will find the report useful. This Profile was prepared to give information about arsenic and to emphasize the human health effects that may result from exposure to it. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has identified 1,598 sites on its National Priorities List (NPL). Arsenic has been found in at least 1,014 of these sites. As EPA evaluates more sites, the number of sites at which arsenic is found may change. The information is important for one to know because arsenic may cause harmful health effects and because these sites are potential or actual sources of human exposure to arsenic.
