Abstract The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) evaluated available environmental data and exposure information associated with the Seneca Army Depot Activity site, in Seneca County, New York. Based on these data, ATSDR determined that the site poses no apparent public health hazard. The Army has detected volatile organic compounds (VOCs), explosive compounds, fuels, and metals in soil and groundwater and, to a lesser extent, in on-site surface water and sediment. ATSDR reviewed the available environmental data and exposure information to determine whether contamination at the Seneca Army Depot Activity could be harmful to people who obtain access to, or live near, the depot. Because of limited available radiologic data, ATSDR was unable to fully assess potential public health hazards associated with radiologic contamination at the Depot.
